Sun Spots (20230116) – more and bigger ones

The single reason I tried to capture this image today was, the big spot in active region AR13190 which appeared the day before yesterday (20230114) at the the western border of the Sun's disk. I had captured it the hard way .... the seeing was horrible.

Today the seeing was not horrible, but only very bad, see my seeing animation (Version B).

A cyclone is approaching our region. After a frosty night the early morning sky is clear, but the Sun has not yet ascended above the mountains. The weather satellite maps clearly show that the clouds will be here in less than 2 hours. Some mountain top's live webcams already show extended gray cloud layers.

I decide to take my lightest mobile setup plus the lovely Astroberry and of course batteries, cables and a tablet which I use outdoors to log into the Astroberry's hotspot via a VNC client app. Having no chair and no table while strong icy wind hits my neck, being almost blinded by the brightest sunlight is not easy. The tablet's display not bright enough and my eyes are really stressed to see something.

It's hard .... and the first thin cirrus clouds already appear ... I must hurry!

Suddenly, the Baader Astrosolar Filter falls off by gusty winds. Not so nice when time is short .... hurry, hurry, hurry!

Finally I manage to take a whole lot of shorter SER Videos, some hundred frames each ... and it is now safe to grabbing my stuff and heading home.

I love heaven -
and heaven loves me
